ROMAIN LANGLOIS
Romain Langlois is a self-taught French artist known for his bronze sculptures with golden shine, transforming the material with a rare technical rigor and deep sensitivity. At the crossroads of art and nature, his works question the relationship between man and his environment through a mineral, organic and poetic aesthetic.
Coming from a career in architecture and design, Romain Langlois turned to a personal sculptural practice in the 2000s, inspired by Ousmane Sow. After studying anatomy to perfect a figurative style, he develops a more abstract writing around emblematic series such as Space Attraction, Resonance or Container, where he deconstructs and sublimates the natural shape of the rock. Each piece is born from a long process of research and transformation, and imposes itself as a fragment of interior landscape, a fragile balance between telluric force and poetry of the void.
Present in many international collections (France, Korea, Saudi Arabia, USA), he has exhibited in major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in Saint-Étienne, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris or the Demeure du Chaos. He also conducts a reflection «outside the walls» with Land Art projects, such as Symbiose in the creeks of Cassis or the monumental installation The Oriental Gate in China, which has become an urban landmark in Suzhou.
Romain Langlois sees art as a universal language, a bridge between cultures and elements.
